Ministry Update
Winter 2008
I am writing to update you on what God is doing in and through my life and to continue to encourage you to partner with me in prayer as I continue to seek God’s desires for my life and ministry. Last May, I started in what began as a summer role with Student Life, Inc. I served there over the summer in a role as a coordinator in the Birmingham office for Student Life Mission Camp. After the summer, I transitioned into a part-time role doing customer service and order processing with Clarity Publishers, the Student Life publishing company, where I have been serving while working on my degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I am hoping to graduate in a year and a half from UAB with a double major in Marketing and Human Resource Management.
This summer, I had my third summer speaking at Awestruck Worship Nights along with Awestruck Band at several churches around Birmingham. We had a great summer and had the opportunity to minister to many students. My speaking ministry and the worship ministry of Awestruck Band have become more closely connected as over the last few months God led me to found Awestruck Ministries. Awestruck Ministries exists to provide worship and communication of the Word to students so that they can catch a glimpse of the greatness of our God and be awestruck in worship of Him. Over the last few months, God has really opened the door for me to share His Word with students. It has been awesome to see God open up opportunities to share!
This fall, I had the privilege of working with First Priority of America in developing an outreach/encouragement ministry to encourage students living out their faith on their campuses through Facebook. It was great to hear the stories of what God was doing in and through students who are seeking to live lives on their campuses for Him! I also had the privilege of going to Cincinnati, Ohio with First Priority to encourage parents, youth pastors, and community leaders to support students seeking to reach their campuses for Christ through the First Priority ministry model.
I took the fall semester off from leading a discipleship group and ended up really missing it. I have come to realize that the heartbeat of ministry to students is not standing in front of a group sharing a message, but rather it is connecting with them relationally through a small group model to truly walk alongside them as they seek to follow Jesus. I will begin my small group ministry this semester looking at what it means to be an authentic Christ-follower. I cannot wait to see what God will do in and through this group!
I have recently started blogging online to be able to clarify my thoughts and the things that God is teaching me and hopefully to be an encouragement to others. This has been fun yet challenging experience. I believe that there are lots of opportunities to develop ministry online and blogging seems to be where God is leading me for now.
Thanks again for your prayers and support! Let me know how I can be praying for you by sending me an email. God bless!
